New Murals on the Estate

Students in Hi-Vis jackets on scaffold tower working on mural in Heald St
Mid July – Addey and Stanhope students work on a mural, that they have designed, in Heald St, Deptford.

The project was led by Artmongers, who sought feedback from the Tanners Hill Tenant’s Association and residents regarding the content. This mural is being painted on the back wall of the school – what is it?! A school locker? A wardrobe? The inside of someone’s head?

Whether you like the mural or not – it’s livened up a long, barren stretch of brick wall and it does make you think.

A second mural is planned for the large, grey brick wall that houses the stairs of the Tanners Hill maisonettes. This is in Pearsons Ave which is on the left just before you get to the bottom of Tanners Hill. These are the proposed designs – feel free to comment below.

Grenfell Anniversary

Grenfell United

Sunday 14 June 2020 is the third anniversary of the horrific fire in Grenfell Tower that took 72 lives – although many local people still believe it took far more – and the government has still not taken the actions required to ensure that such a disaster never takes place again.

It’s almost the 3rd anniversary of Grenfell and yet….

• 300 buildings still with same cladding
• 2,000 resident blocks still cladded
• 23,000 families living in cladded homes
• Still no convictions for Grenfell tragedy

We will not give up this fight until we get justice pic.twitter.com/u4r1byPVys

Please do what you can to support Grenfell United, find out more, including an online rememberance event this evening at 6pm. Please visit their web site for more information.

“We are Grenfell United, survivors and bereaved families of the Grenfell Tower fire, working together for our community and campaigning for safe homes, justice and change.

Three years on we need your support more than ever to keep Grenfell in hearts and minds as we work for justice and change. Support us by adding your voice to ours. We’ll email you with news about our journey and opportunities to take action with us.”

Information and support in response to Coronavirus

Dear Residents…

You may have already seen the notices we have posted on the Estate offering support and information, and we would like to say Thank You to the residents who have been in contact with us to offer their support in response to the preparations for the expected increase in the spread of the coronavirus.

This is when our Residents Association can be a valuable asset to our community. It is more important than ever to look out for our neighbours, especially those who are more vulnerable, and to co-ordinate our efforts to reduce the harm to ALL OF US from the virus over the coming months.

It is helpful to have a neighbour to provide support rather than a complete stranger, so we will do our best to provide information that is local to our Estate, and help co-ordinate support on a block by block basis, so you can be assured that the volunteers are all residents on the Estate, and are known to the Residents Association.

If you need of further advice or would like to offer your help, or have a question or a comment, you can:

Email us at: secretary@tannershilltra.org

Post a comment on the web site: www.tannershilltra.org
